Tooth broken accident

Try to find broken piece of tooth and gently clean it. Then, call your dentist immediately. Sometimes, dentist can use the broken tooth to reattach. When fractured into pulp with bleeding, root canal treatment may be needed to save the tooth.

When the whole tooth is out of tooth socket from trauma

Cleanse the open socket and bite down gauze or clean tissue paper to control bleeding. Rinse the whole tooth under tap water and place it in a container with milk to keep it moist. Call your dentist for reimplantation. Success rate of reimplantation after one hour diminishes dramatically.

Extreme toothache

When a toddler's tooth is loose or submerged into gum from a fall.

Gently clean the area and have toddler to bite down on gauze to stop bleeding. Give the toddler some pain medication and contact your family dentist. Baby teeth can be repositioned easily if acted on quickly.

Bleeding continues after teeth extraction

Gently clean the extraction area and place clean gauze on an extraction site. Bite down firmly on the gauze with NO talking in order not to disturb a firm pressure on the gauze. Do not spit out your saliva but swallow it. Usually biting down continuously for one hour will stop most of bleeding.
