Fissure Sealing
The sealant forms a smooth, protective barrier, by covering
all the little grooves and dips in the surface of the
tooth. Much dental decay starts in these grooves. Sealants
are a safe and painless way of protecting teeth from dental
decay. A sealant is a protective plastic coating, which
is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The
sealant forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria
from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing
decay. |

Cleaning
Once tartar has formed on the surfaces of our teeth, they become
virtually impossible to remove by normal brushing. Left alone, the
rough surfaces of tartar will collect even more plaque, leading to
gum disease which start off as bleeding gums and gradually
progresses to gum shrinkage and finally loosening teeth.
Deposits of plaque and tartar will also make our teeth more prone
to decay. Scaling is usually completed with polishing to smoothen
the surfaces of your teeth and to remove stains. Unless otherwise
advised, you should have scaling and polishing done once every 6 months. |
